Jacob/Israel
Advent Day 12
Jacob’s story differed from Isaac’s, yet it was equally marked by sinfulness and deceit. Under his mother’s influence, Jacob deceived his father, Isaac, to obtain a blessing meant for his brother. Not only did he lie to his father, but he also used trickery to take Esau’s birthright, a sacred inheritance that belonged to Esau by birth. Through these actions, Jacob revealed both his cunning nature and his willingness to manipulate family bonds for personal gain. Despite his flaws, Jacob’s story reminds us that God often chooses to work through broken people, transforming their character and using their lives to accomplish His divine purposes.
This Christmas season, remember that God did not send His Son to save perfect people. He came to seek and save the lost. Jacob was a great sinner, but he served an even greater God—a God who redeems and restores those who turn to Him.
