Ram – Also known as Aram in some texts (Ruth 4:19; 1 Chronicles 2:9-10).

Perez: Redemption from Brokenness
Perez, the son of Judah and Tamar, came from a situation of deep family brokenness (Genesis 38). Yet God worked through this imperfect story to lay the foundation of the royal line of Judah. Perez’s life reminds us that God can redeem even the most challenging circumstances and use them for His glory.
Hezron and Ram: Quiet Continuity
We know little about Hezron and Ram, but they faithfully carried forward the promise given to Judah. Their lives remind us that God often works through generations of faithfulness, even when it’s unseen. Just as they continued the lineage toward Christ, our everyday acts of obedience can play a role in God’s redemptive plan.
Amminadab: Linking to Priesthood
Amminadab, the father-in-law of Aaron the priest, connects this royal line to the priesthood. His family’s legacy reminds us that Jesus, who would come through this lineage, is both our King and our High Priest. Christ would bridge the gap between God and humanity, bringing us into His family and making us part of His priesthood.
Reflection
These names may feel distant, but each one was a part of God’s unfolding story, preparing the way for the birth of Christ. This Christmas, may we remember that our lives, like theirs, are part of God’s bigger picture. Through faithfulness, even in ordinary moments, we participate in a story that points to Jesus—the true King and Redeemer, born to bring light to a waiting world
